Add page numbers to a PDF
Put page numbers on a PDF and see where they land before you download. Pick the corner, the format, and the first number, then drag it anywhere on the page. Start the count on page 3 and call it 1 if that's what your document needs.

Every number is drawn on the page at the size, position and font it will have in the file. What you see is what comes out, so there is no download, open, and try again loop.
Start the count where you want
Which pages get a number and what the first one reads are two separate settings. Skip a two-page cover and still have the first numbered page read 1, or carry on from 47 where the last document stopped.
The same spot on every page size
The position is kept as a distance from the edge of the page, not as a percentage of it. A footer sits the same distance from the bottom whether the page is Letter, A4, or A5.
Plain numbers, "1 / 12", or your own wording
Print the number on its own, the number with the total, or a template of your own with a prefix, a suffix, and leading zeros. Page 7 can read "Page 7 of 12", "007", or "A-7".
The file stays on your device
Your PDF is read in the browser and written back in the browser. There is no upload to sit through, no queue, and no file size limit, because there is no server in the way.

Place the number
Drag the number on any page to move it. It snaps to the margins and to the middle of the page, and the other pages follow.
Set the range and the first number
"Page range" picks which pages get a number. "First number" sets what that first one reads. Skipping a cover and starting the count at 1 are two separate settings.
Choose the format and download
The number on its own, "1 / 12", or your own template. Click "Finish", then "Download" the numbered file.

Number a proposal, a thesis chapter or a set of minutes before it goes out, so the person reading it can say "page 14" and mean the same page you do. Reviewers get something to point at instead of a paragraph to quote.
Make several files read as one document
